Barak Valley, comprising three districts of South Assam, namely Cachar, Hailakandi and Karimganj, is situated between longitude 92.15// and 93.15// East, and latitude 24.8// and 25.8// North, covering an area of 6,922 sq. km of land. It is bounded on the North by North Cachar Hills districts of Assam, Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya, on the South by Mizoram, on the East by Manipur and by Tripura and Sylhet district of Bangladesh on the west.
