Various tribal organizations today made serious appeal to the government that their lands were being encroached on by unknown intruders.
If the State Government failed to protect tribal belts and blocks, BTAD like violent situation could not be ruled out, the joint representation said.
Barak Valley Khasi-Jaintia Welfare Organisation, All Assam Tribal Sangha, Nikhil Cachar Haidimba Barman Samiti, All Assam Naga Rongmei Students’ Union and Khasi Students’ Union in a joint representation to the Deputy Inspector General of Police, southern range expressed concern at the attempts of unknown intruders to encroach on the lands of tribal people and their standing crops of jhum cultivation.
